Competitive Landscape
We started with a competitive analysis both within our targeted price point and beyond. We used this information to make sure the feature list of this new project was in-line with the market.
Inspiration
The past comfort series bikes had been designed about 10 years before the launch of these new bikes. Since that time the brand identity and target demographic has shifted to a sleeker look geared towards a younger audience.
The inspiration for the new bikes came from 2 places:
1. Use of soft and dynamic beveling which has become synonymous with the modern Horizon Fitness brand language.
2. Sleek and Sporty DNA to appeal to the more youthful demographic Horizon is targeting.

Console was originally meant to have a full digital screen but was later changed to an LCD for cost reasons. Console design is meant to be usable on other cardio products as well as these bikes with a simple overlay change.
One feature we looked at upgrading as a leg up to the competition was offering a larger bladed fan instead of the small blower fans found in most competitors. This would offer significantly more airflow. By moving the fan down into the cupholder it also allowed for this larger fan to fit in while keeping the console footprint small.
